And as is usual this time of the year I will be performing in DanceVision's The Nutcracker Ballet, choreographed by Susan Jaffe. Performances this year are Friday December 5 through Sunday December 7 at the Montgomery Center for the Performing Arts in Skillman NJ. Tickets are available at the studio or online (www.dancevisionnj.org)

This Winter Season I am Offering 5 Scholarships to Boys ages 10-14 in Salsa Training. This is an opportunity for your kids to try something new, different and maybe find a different way to keep your kids active and learn about Latin dance and culture. Dancing helps kids develop a healthy self-confidence and discipline. My goal is to prepare and instruct a new generation of kids in the beautiful and useful art of social dancing, they will become the new HSH generation of Salseros and Salseras. If your Kids or know of anyone who would be interested in it, please bring the boys to any of Salsa4Kids class or contact Henri at (609) 651-6070.

Henri's Tip

So I have been seeing lot of improvement in a couple of my new students and I am so impressed on how they learning so fast. Besides the good teaching ;-) there is more to it and I would like to share it with you.

The main factor of someone learning salsa or any kind of dance faster, it's the attitude and the goals in which you start taking lessons, those who improve faster are those who are not afraid of making mistakes, to make an effort to let go and don't try to dance like its work usually succeed in making the process of learning faster. Fun and exercise are the main two goals of dancing lessons. If you come to class and while working you try not to mess up, not giving your body the opportunity to experiment different ways of doing something, make your body uptight and hesitate to let go it can be really hard and frustrating. Like I always say, Salsa is the beauty of the Mistakes.

Another factor is how much you give yourself to it , in other words, how open minded are you to willing to learn from anyone . A tradition of my HSH family (me and my crew) is to help people out , teaching them and giving them tips so they can improve faster while the class is in progress. Every time you dance with any of us you will usually will get some feedback. HSH is a big family and we have a particular way of teaching. If you are starting or have already been taking lessons with us don't be afraid to ask anyone of my crew or me to help you with a move or ask how you are doing. We are more than happy to make anyone look HSH !!!

So remember , you come to class, you laugh, you work and you have fun. If you mess up not a biggie let's fix it and make it better together. Anyone can be as good as they wanna be with the right attitude , right set of mine and the right teacher :-).

Beginners

In this class we introduce the students to the Salsa rhythm and how to count to Salsa music by working on 6 basic moves. (Cross Body Lead- Right turns- Left turns- Hand change turn- Hammer Lock - Break change)

Tuesdays 8:00 pm- 9:00 pm

Wednesdays 6:30 pm- 7:30 pm

Advanced-Beginners 1

This class is designed for those students who have learned the beginner syllabus and concepts of salsa rhythm and timing. It is important that the student knows all the step from beginner level in order to take this class.

There are 6 Moves you have to master.

Tuesdays 9:00 pm - 10:00pm

Advanced-Beginners 2

This is for students who feel comfortable with the advanced- beginner syllabus and have managed the concepts of Salsa rhythm, timing and basic stepping. Shines and lots of movement techique are a big part of this class.

Wednesdays 7:30 pm -8:30 pm

Intermediate-Advance

Spinning, flashy, and complicated shines and partnering moves are part of this class. Pure hotsalsahot style Salsa...

Wednesdays 8:30 pm -9:30 pm

Perfomance Class

This class is made for those of you who would like to challenge yourselves and take your Salsa to a new level by performing when the opportunity comes. Lots and lots of technique, movement, rythm, SHINES!! and lots of hard work will be the ingredients of this class. Sounds great right!!!!
